Not that we need an excuse, but did you know that people who travel are generally healthier than those who don’t? Here are the stats:
- Women who vacation twice a year are less likely to suffer a heart attack or coronary disease than those who travel every six years or less
- Men who don’t take an annual holiday are 30% more at risk of dying from heart disease than those chaps who do.
- 86% of people who travel are satisfied with their outlook on life compared to 75% who do not travel.
- Retirees who travel are less prone to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
The above statistics were reported by The Global Commission on Aging, the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, and the U.S. Travel Association who had conducted the poll.
A similar study conducted in Australia, discovered that travel improved three important factors linked to happiness: positive emotions, a sense of purpose and a sense of involvement. It showed that the entire process – from booking the trip to reliving it afterwards through photos and videos – simply made people happier!
So, go on and make that booking!
