Mr Price Karkloof Classic – 8 to 10 April 2011

If you’re a keen mountain-biker, you’d know that this year’s race is held in April – not May as always. This is undoubtedly the biggest Mountain-Biking event of the year in South Africa and it just grows in popularity every year.

The Karkloof has always been known by the locals as an excellent mountain-biking area. Word is spreading fast and bikers from further afield are catching on to our little secret. Rockwood in itself has become so popular over the years, that Karkloof Classic weekend is normally fully booked up to a year in advance! This year’s race is no different; we’re once again fully booked, but if you get in touch, we’d be glad to offer some ideas of where else to try for a place to stay during the event. Alternatively, check out for more info.

If you’re not up to participating standards just as yet or maybe just want to come and explore the beauty that is the Karkloof on your bike, give us a shout and we’d gladly organise a ride for you with Hylton Turvey who is the mastermind behind the track used for the Mr Price Karkloof Classic. He’s taken a number of Rockwood guests on mountain bike rides in the area and the feedback has been awesome! Don’t want a guided tour? DIY mountain-bike in the private Karkloof Nature Reserve then – remember, it’s exclusively open to guests of Rockwood only!
