Rockwood Lodges and the Karkloof Nature Reserve obviously exist in a very green environment. Green, is everywhere. From the beautiful natural forest in which two of our four lodges are situated to the ethos amongst our staff and guests to give something back to the environment.
We actively support the Midlands Meander Education Project, the Karkloof Conservation Centre as well as the Wildlands Conservation Trust. Further afield, Rockwood Leisure (which owns Rockwood Lodges), also support the Timbavati Foundation.
We try to reduce, re-use and recycle as much of the lodge supplies as possible and Lucky, our maintenance supervisor, is very disciplined in what is recyled at the Howick Municipality Recycling Centre!
Our staff take pride in their little vegetable garden which they all tend to and sharing their successes with others – lodge guests and other residents – is always encouraged.
We’re always looking for Green initiatives to implement at the Lodge and encourage our guests to make recommendations to us!
