The Karkloof Conservation Centre recently arranged an outing for some local birders, lead by respected guides Dave and Sally Johnson.
The sun shone bright as our little group of 10 met up in the car park at Rockwood Forest Lodge where Dave gave an insightful introduction into the Karkloof forests. Having been warned that our knowledge would be tested after the walk, we set out eyes and ears wide open!
Ducking into the indigenous bush outside the lodge, we were treated to the unique bird call of the Narina Trogon.
What followed was a superb morning.
