Choose your Own Adventure

The beauty of a self-catering holiday is that you are free to do as as you please. Want to sleep in and not worry about missing breakfast? Sure you can. Want to enjoy that breakfast for lunch rather? No problem! Want to explore your surroundings at a time that’s convenient for your family? Absolutely!

We are constantly on the scout for activities our guests may enjoy on site. They include self-guided hiking and mountain-biking trails or more leisurely pursuits such as birding and hiking. For those happy to venture a bit of a distance away – not too far, mind you – the Karkloof Canopy Tour zip-line begins in our private nature reserve and offer our guests a discounted rate. A must-do on your KZN holiday itinerary, for sure!

Recently, we have partnered with some Midlands locals to offer an even bigger choice to our guests.

Art Class:

Renowned artist, Brent Dodd, offers a 1-3 hour drawing class with all materials provided. No age restriction or previous experience required; simply a sense of humour and an ounce of courage to challenge yourself! Brent provides step-by-step guidance and guests take home their own creation. Cost: R350pp per hour.

DIY Sushi-making class:

A fun exercise culminating in the crowning of the “Sushi Ninja”! Each person will enjoy making their own platter consisting of 25 pieces of different types of traditional tuna, salmon and prawn sushi. A vegetarian option can also be booked. Cost: R1600 for a class of 6, thereafter R200pp.

Dinner theatre with chef Andrew Giles:

Allow Andrew to entertain you! Our full package includes 3 courses, refreshments, welcome drink / sundowner with snacks and wine pairing with each dish and can be customised to your taste and requirements. Price upon request.

Clay Pigeon Shooting:

A fun outdoors activity, we provide a safe experience with all the required equipment, ammunition and clays. Cost: from R120pp.

Guided hikes:

We have access to KZN’s best tourist guides! From general guided to more specific walks e.g. “frogging”, “birding”, “tree-ID” and night walks, we are flexible and can with a bit of notice put something together the whole family will enjoy.
