With the Karkloof 50 Miler just around the corner, our very own Lucky Dlamini has been preparing to take on this mammoth challenge which will be happening on the 21st of September 2019
A dedicated Rockwood team member for the past 11 years, taking care of maintenance and keeping the exterior of the lodges in pristine condition is Lucky’s main role at the lodges.
During his time off, the 45 year old husband and father of two loves spending time with his family, running and doing handy work around his home.
Lucky has been running for many years, mainly to keep his health in order, and his longest race to date has been the Mandela Marathon.
So, what inspired Lucky to take on the Karkloof 50 Miler challenge? With his love for long distance running, Lucky absolutely had to participate in the race especially since it goes through Rockwood and he trains along these trails on a regular basis.
Lucky’s exercise regime consists of running 10-20 kms on Mondays to Thursdays and 42kms every Sunday. His tips for aspiring runners are to start training short distances first (5 – 10 kms) and when you do that well go on to 15-20kms and so on. He also advises that keeping hydrated during training sessions is extremely important and always pace yourself at a slow and conversational pace for long distances.
The Rockwood Team wishes Lucky the very best for the race.
